More Finishing Touches

April 18 - 20, 2008

The molding in the grandkids' room is finished.

More finished molding. The floor has been swept
clean but hasn't been waxed. That comes later.

Finished molding and clean floor in the kids' room.

Same thing, different angle.

Mike spent some time organizing the garage.

Now stuff has its own place.

Looking down the hallway from the main house.

Here I am with my drywall tools finishing the wall around the spice rack.

It was afternoon nap time for the girls!

My next project was stripping the paint from a couple of old shutters.
I'm going to use them to make tables for the front porch. I saw tables
like this in a store selling for $100 EACH! So I spent about $50 to buy
enough old shutters to make two tables of my own. After stripping them,
I'll either stain or paint them. I haven't yet decided which is best.

The other shutter.

Don't look! Its a picture of me stripping!

We used quite a few buckets of drywall compound
on this little house project of ours.

Now all of the floors have been cleaned and waxed.

Looks pretty good for concrete floors, eh?

Meg sleeps in some strange positions. I couldn't resist taking a picture.

She was pretty wiped out. The floor is so shiny, you can see her reflection!
Yes, she really is sleeping. She sleeps like this at home all the time.

Pretty soon, we'll be pronouncing this place finished. We have one more
exterior chore to handle. Everything else that needs to be done is cosmetic.
