The first weekend in February was a cold one. Thank goodness for heat!

There was an ice storm on Friday morning. Fortunately
we don't usually drive up until Friday night. There was about
3/4 an inch of ice covering everything.

The big chore for the weekend was drywall finishing.
Our primary goal was to get the first spare bedroom done.
Here's Mike doing some work in the hallway around the door.

And here I am working in the bedroom.

Here I am, quite the dedicated worker. I didn't even stop working
when I got a telephone call. Of course, Mike would put a different
spin on it and say, "Look at her talking on the phone!"

Once I was finished in the first spare bedroom, I had some mud
left in my pan so I moved to the second spare bedroom to work.

It is dirty, monotonous work, but it has to be done.

While I was doing drywall finishing, Mike was in the
main house cleaning and waxing the floor. He only did
this small section in the hallway to test the wax he bought.
We are quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Here I am doing some drywall touch-up.

The wet sponge helps smooth it out.

Mike was in the garage putting up insulation.

I cleaned the drywall dust off of the bedroom floor.
Then, believe it or not, it was time to paint.

Mike started with the trim.

I have to pause here to mention the dogs. Remember the
ice I told you about? Well, it warmed up and melted. So
what was frozen on Saturday was mud on Sunday. While we
were hard at work inside, the dogs were playing outside.

The dogs were so wet and muddy when they returned that
they were literally dripping mud onto Mike's nice, clean floor.

The first spare bedroom is completely primed and ready for paint.

Here's Mike enjoying a quick break.

Look closely and you'll see how much nicer the hallway
floor looks than the rest of the room.

Here's Meg resting with her hedgehog.

Next weekend, we'll be insulating the attic.
